- EDC has a strong reputation and will provide the incumbent with an outstanding opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of the various IB segments capabilities.
- The role implies to be customer, network mind with abilities to perform and manage all aspects of the role. The incumbent should have gained exposure to the broader African markets and previous experience interacting with clients and top management. Must be self-driven with strong work ethics and be a highly self-motivated professional.
- The incumbent should create and maintain strong relationships with African governments, financial institutions and corporates to facilitate development of a strong pipeline of good quality
Deliverables
- Origination Structuring and Distribution Corporate Finance transactions (Project finance, structured commodity financing, M&A…)
- Lead larger and more complex transactions.
- Supervision of marketing documents such as pitch books, proposals, term sheets, mandate letters and other marketing materials.
- Development of all existing and new IB products
- Develop aggressively deal pipeline by working closely with Commercial banking divisions.
- Responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with our Clients/ Sponsors
- Local and International Banks, Development Finance Institutions, Investment Banks, Private equity firm, the regulators
- Full compliance by all the staff with Regulators, Authorities, and Ecobank Group respective policies.
- Regularity (in accordance with current internal policies and market regulations) of all the transactions executed by the various business units.
- Provision of support and coaching/training to the IB staff members in view of building capacity
- Motivate, Lead, and develop the IB Team across the footprint to achieve consistent profitability through a clear process of target settings and appraisals.
- Ensure strong and qualitative bench strengths of pool of successors for IB key roles.
- Minimum educational level is master’s degree / MBA in Economics/ Business Administration or related fields of study; fluent written & spoken French & English; proficiency in MS Office especially with excel skills.
- At least 10 years sales experience with a proven sales track record, preferably in Investment Banking
- Ability to interact and negotiate with the client organization at the top management decision-making level.
- Significant achievements in a major international financial institution
- Knowledge of African markets - Industry background in various sectors such as telecoms, oil and gas, mining, infrastructure, etc.
- Critical assessment and due diligence of investment opportunities
- Strong commercial Acumen: ability to translate issues into impact on economies and companies’ profitability and identify financial risks.
- Strong communication skills – Excellent writing and Oral English & French
- Experience working on an international level.
- Experience in strong strategy development and negotiation skills
