In other words, the Construction Site Storekeeper job description involves supervising and managing the construction site and ensuring that the tools, equipment and many other materials used in the construction project are safe, secure, well maintained and well managed.
- Maintain and monitor warehouse receipts, records and withdrawals
- Receiving, unloading and shelving supplies
- Perform other stock-related duties, which may include returning, packing and labelling supplies.
- Examine and review deliveries for discrepancies and damage and report to necessary personnel for refunds and record keeping.
- Clean and test construction equipment to ensure functionality.
- Supervise and/or exercise general control over all shop tools and activities
- Inspect the construction site and ensure that all tools and/or equipment are complete and in good condition
- Answering questions about procedures and resolving problems that may arise regarding receipts, deliveries, warranties, repairs and surplus supplies.
- The ability to pay close attention to detail, as supervising a construction storehouse as well as a team of workers involves many different factors
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, as a Construction Site Storekeeper must be able to communicate well with workers, supervisors, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, etc.
- Excellent management skills, since he or she is responsible for maintaining all tools and equipment on the construction site and ensuring that they are safe and well-maintained.
- Financial knowledge, as a Site Storekeeper may be required to file and analyse a large number of financial documents.
- Strong multitasking skills, enabling them to manage several tasks effectively at the same time
- Good time management skills, as construction projects must be completed within a given timeframe
- Several years' professional experience in a related or relevant field/position
- At least a bachelor's degree.
