Missions / Responsibilities / Activities
Job Summary
The Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics Teacher is tasked with delivering high quality education aligned with the school's curriculum and international standards, including the Cambridge International Curriculum. The role involves fostering scientific inquiry, mathematical reasoning, and independent learning in a safe, inclusive environment that promotes academic excellence and holistic development. The successful candidate will mainly teach Biology and Chemistry, with additional Mathematics instruction as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  2. Deliver high quality instruction aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the school's schemes of work.
  3. Develop students' scientific knowledge, mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, investigative skills, and problem solving abilities.
  4. Promote inquiry based learning through practical investigations, experiments, and real life applications.
  5. Integrate educational technology and innovative teaching strategies into classroom instruction.
  6. Differentiate teaching to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and learning styles of students.
  7. Encourage independent learning, critical thinking, creativity, and academic excellence.
  8. Create a positive, inclusive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that supports effective learning.
Curriculum Planning and Development
  1. Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, curriculum maps, and teaching resources.
  2. Develop assessment materials aligned with curriculum objectives.
  3. Contribute to curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives.
  4. Ensure curriculum delivery complies with Cambridge International standards and school expectations.
  5. Participate actively in departmental planning and curriculum development meetings.
Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting
  1. Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
  2. Monitor, assess, and evaluate student progress in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  3. Analyse assessment data to identify learning gaps and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
  4. Maintain accurate academic records and attendance registers.
  5. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  6. Prepare student reports in accordance with school policies.
  7. Support students preparing for Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS, and A Level examinations where applicable.
  8. Participate in parent teacher conferences and communicate student progress effectively.
Laboratory Management
  1. Prepare, organize, and supervise Biology and Chemistry practical sessions.
  2. Ensure laboratory safety procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
  3. Promote the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and biological materials.
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory in collaboration with laboratory staff.
  5. Ensure students comply with all laboratory health and safety regulations
Student Support and Wellbeing
  1. Monitor students' academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  2. Provide academic support and intervention where required.
  3. Encourage confidence, resilience, self discipline, and independent learning.
  4. Work collaboratively with parents and relevant staff to support student success.
  5. Promote positive behaviour and respect within the classroom.
Job Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Science Education, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
  2. Recognized teaching qualification or professional teaching certification.
  3. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  4. Minimum of three (03) years' teaching experience, preferably in an international school.
  5. Demonstrated ability to teach Biology and Chemistry is essential.
  6. Ability to teach Mathematics at secondary level is highly desirable.
  7. Experience teaching the Cambridge International Curriculum (Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS & A Level) is highly desirable.
  8. Safeguarding certification is required.
  9. Experience preparing students for internal and external examinations is an advantage.
